BIZ BUZZ: Gotianuns woo night golfers

The Gotianun family has long made a big bet on the Clark growth corridor, investing not just in hundreds of hectares of real estate development but in airport infrastructure as well.

In partnership with the Clark Development Corp. and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, the Filinvest group aims to generate 170,000 jobs upon the full build-up of Filinvest Mimosa Plus Leisure City and Filinvest New Clark City.

For golf enthusiasts, the 36-hole Mimosa Plus Golf Course offers two 18-hole, par-72 courses. The group highlights the use of Zoysia grass, which requires less water and is thus more planet friendly. Mimosa Plus Golf Driving Range is likewise slated to open this year with 48 bays.

What’s more, the group installed 58 high-powered floodlights at the back nine of Acacia Course to enable golf playing well past sunset.

“Some people, like many Koreans, don’t like the sun,” Francis Gotianun, first senior vice president at Filinvest Hospitality Corp., recently told Biz Buzz.

While there are night golf courses in Metro Manila, Gotianun noted that this is the first in Clark that’s publicly available for tee time after dark, in as much as during the daytime.

And as Filinvest group marks its 70th anniversary or platinum jubilee this 2025, the opening salvo for the year-long celebration is the launch of the Night Golf at Mimosa this week.

Meanwhile, Filinvest is building a 300-room brand-new Crimson Hotel in Clark — still in line with its goal of helping to transform the former American air base into a premier destination for business and leisure. This will be the fourth location of its homegrown deluxe hotel-resort brand after Alabang, Cebu and Boracay Island.
