BIZ BUZZ: JuanHand ramps up fight vs cybercrimes
Fintech company JuanHand is teaming up with law enforcers as online scams continue to bedevil borrowers.
The cash lending firm recently sealed a partnership with the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Cybercrime Group, pledging to help curb digital fraud through information sharing, training programs and public awareness campaigns focused on safe and responsible borrowing.
The tie-up also aims to arm consumers against schemes commonly used by predatory lenders.
The initiative comes as cybercrime remains a persistent threat, despite signs of easing. Data from the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center showed online scam complaints had fallen by nearly 40 percent in 2025 from a year earlier to about 6,000 cases.
Still, the figure remains well above presurge levels. Complaints last year were almost double the 3,317 cases recorded in 2023, after hitting a record 10,004 in 2024.
