BIZ BUZZ: MCIA collects new award
Aboitiz-run Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) has received yet another award, this time for being the second top-performing government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCCs) for 2024.
Based on GOCCs’ performance evaluation scorecard, MCIAA recorded a 100.16 percent performance rating, just a few points behind the lottery agency Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), which got 100.63 percent.
The airport was evaluated the same year that Aboitiz InfraCapital took over the full control of the MCIA, the second busiest airport after the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.
Just last month, MCIA was recognized as Airport of the Year in Asia, thanks mainly to the innovations introduced by the Aboitiz group.
These include a unique facility called CEBConnects, reducing minimum connection time of domestic and international flights, which led to a 45-percent growth in passenger volume.
