BIZ BUZZ: Megaworld deemed a great place to work

A few months back, the real estate grapevine was abuzz with reports that several senior executives from rival property companies had jumped ship and moved over to Megaworld.

And looking at the recent string of accolades earned by the Andrew Tan-led property giant, it’s not hard to see why the talent tide is shifting.

For one, Megaworld made it to Time Magazine’s inaugural list of the “Best Companies in Asia-Pacific” this year. Then not long after, the company was named one of HR Asia’s “Best Companies to Work For in Asia.”

And just recently, it received a “Great Place to Work” certification with a stellar 94-percent employee approval rating—the highest among the country’s largest real estate companies.

According to California-based Great Place to Work, what sets Megaworld apart is its strong commitment to nurturing careers and maintaining a positive workplace culture.

And Megaworld has some numbers to prove it.

Around 700 employees have stayed with the company for over a decade, while more than 250 have logged at least 15 years of service.

About 40 company executives will also be feted with service awards for their tenure of 20 years and above.

These include top officers handling finance and accounting, such as its CFO, Treasurer, as well as its head of construction management.

Also among the service awardees this year is Megaworld president and CEO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso herself, who is marking her 35th year with the company.

Will we see more executives jumping ship? Abangan!
