BIZ BUZZ: Millionaire after an office Christmas party

Doris Dumlao-Abadilla

Any employee would have been happy to win a new phone, tablet, gift certificate or any other raffle prize during the office Christmas party.

But not all office Christmas party raffle lineups are created equal!

Lady Luck smiled the sweetest on one paralegal staff member of Divina Law, who came home P1 million richer after winning the grand prize at this year’s office party.

And it’s not the first time that the founder, prominent lawyer and University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Civil Law School dean Nilo Divina, has given away a cool million-peso in cash prize during his group’s yuletide celebration. It’s the third year that a P1-million cash prize has spiced up their year-end merry-making.

All employees who had served for at least two years were eligible for the raffle draw. There were 148 employees who qualified this year, each of whom wrote their name on balls placed inside the tambiolo (raffle drum).

Other employees got something to bring home, ranging from P1,000 to P100,000.

Like boxing champ Manny Pacquiao—also known for giving away millions during his birthday party—Divina Law had to score a number of legal victories and client deals for nearly two decades to earn its place to be this magnanimous.
