BIZ BUZZ: More Fortune 500 firms moving to Uptown Bonifacio

Megaworld Corp.’s new top hire, Francisco Roxas, has not even warmed his seat and yet he is already making waves.

That’s because the real estate sector veteran, who was recently named head of Megaworld Global Offices, is about to sign coveted lease deals with a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company and a top government agency.

This was just after Megaworld rolled out the red carpet for two Coca-Cola companies that have started moving into the newly completed Uptown Eastgate Tower along 11th Avenue.

Brokers say Uptown Eastgate is BGC’s biggest office building for lease, offering 100,000 square meters of gross leasable area and floor plates of up to 5,000 square meters.

Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Services, Inc. (CCEPSI) will occupy several floors of the expansive LEED-certified tower.

More than 2,000 Coke employees, including top executives of CCEAP, are relocating to Uptown Eastgate, while CCEPSI is opening its first shared services hub in the same tower.

They join other Fortune 500 firms already calling Uptown Bonifacio home, including Google, Accenture, Tesla and JPMorganChase.

JPMorganChase is  Megaworld’s biggest tenant to date, occupying two towers in the township and holding the record for the Philippines’ biggest office lease transaction.

The addition of new tenants should put a smile on the face of Roxas, who was hired to expand the group’s office portfolio, not just in Metro Manila but in other key areas, such as Ilocos Region, Pampanga, Cavite, Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro.

This is part of the Andrew Tan-led company’s ambition to achieve two million square meters of leasable office space.

At the rate that expansion and the lease deals are being sealed, it will not likely take long before they can say mission accomplished.
