BIZ BUZZ: Moving on

Jordeene B. Lagare

Trabaho lang naman ho tayo (We’re just working).”

This was the response of Arrey Perez, the new undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Shrugging off critics, Perez urged the public to let bygones be bygones and evaluate his performance as a government official.

“Let’s just move forward and ginagawa ho naman natin yung ating the best para ho makatulong sa gobyerno,” (We are just doing our best to help the government.) Perez told reporters on Tuesday.

Perez joined the DA in March, overseeing agro-marine industrial systems. Before that, Perez served as a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undersecretary for about a month, resigning in October to give way to an inquiry into alleged connections to contractors.

A licensed real estate broker and certified public accountant, Perez was the president of Metro Pacific Tollways under the MVP Group for five months.

He served the longest at the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, working alongside DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon at one point.
