BIZ BUZZ: NUSTAR Hotel Cebu lands on Michelin guide

Now that did not take long.

NUSTAR Hotel Cebu, the country’s first all-Filipino ultraluxury hotel brand under the Gokongwei group, has earned a coveted spot on the prestigious Michelin Guide Hotel List for the Philippines.

NUSTAR Hotel thus joins an elite group of properties that meet Michelin’s standards for design, service and meaningful guest experiences.

NUSTAR is understandably giddy at the recognition, saying it marks a major achievement for the Philippine hospitality industry, which has long been dominated by international brands in the high-end segment.

The Michelin Guide’s hotel selection, launched with its “Key” distinction in 2024, highlights hotels that offer outstanding stays across five main criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, personality and character, value for the price and contribution to the local destination.

NUSTAR Hotel Cebu was said to have excelled across all categories, offering a distinctly Filipino interpretation of world-class luxury.

Situated within the NUSTAR Resort and Casino complex in Cebu City, the hotel was designed by HKS Singapore to rise above the South Road Properties waterfront.

The hotel’s architecture is inspired by Cebu’s maritime history, with the hotel towers serving as modern beacons that symbolize the city’s legacy as a trading port in Asia.

One of its defining features is its dedicated butler service, offered to every guest.
