BIZ BUZZ: P20 for all
For a limited time, the government’s P20 a kilogram rice will again be available to all buyers.
According to the Department of Agriculture, the discounted rice will be sold from Oct. 8 to 10 at the KADIWA ng Pangulo Expo at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Each customer can purchase up to 10 kilograms per day.
They only need to bring one valid ID to avail themselves of the cheaper rice.
The DA, through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service, has staged the three-day expo, seeking to showcase local agricultural products and facilitate market linkages for farmers and fishers.
The event brought together 60 exhibitors, including farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs), agri-entrepreneurs, government agencies, and private-sector partners.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said Kadiwa provides producers with more direct access to consumers while helping make food more accessible and affordable.
“Through KADIWA, we help farmers sell their products directly, allowing them to increase their income while providing consumers with more affordable and nutritious food,” Tiu Laurel said.
