BIZ BUZZ: Succession trend continues: Ocier version

Avatar
The past year, we’ve been noticing a slew of succession plans from nearly every listed company we encounter, with next-generation leaders taking on bigger roles.

Of course, companies like AbaCore Capital Holdings Inc. and families such as Willy Ocier’s are no exception.

The tycoon behind Belle Corp. and Pacific Online Systems Corp. (POSC) quit his post as AbaCore director and handed the reins to his 37-year-old daughter, Mischel.

“My belief in the corporation’s future is unwavering,” Ocier said in an AbaCore stock exchange disclosure on Wednesday.

In endorsing Mischel, Ocier said he was “confident that her expertise, innovative spirit and commitment to excellence will be valuable assets to the team and will help propel the company to even greater heights.”

Mischel’s appointment also does not come out of nowhere.

POSC’s head of business development leads the company’s strategic planning, along with sustainability efforts and maintaining corporate image.

Apart from that, Mischel is also POSC’s integrated management representative and chief risk officer.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management engineering from Ateneo de Manila University, and later took certificate courses at Tsinghua University in China and Josai International University in Japan.

With another role entrusted upon her, we’re hoping to see more of Mischel.
