Insurer Sun Life Philippines last Friday named Jonathan Juan “JJ” Moreno as its new chief executive officer and country head, effective April 1, 2026.

Moreno, who currently serves as president of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc., will succeed Benedict Sison, who is set to retire after a 15-year career with the company, including eight years as CEO and country head.

Sison will still serve as chair of the Sun Life Philippines Holding Company and the Sun Life Foundation, and as a strategic adviser until the end of the year.

Moreno first joined the insurance company in May last year, bringing in more than 20 years of senior leadership roles in multiple industries, including service as president and CEO of AF Payments, and chief strategy officer at Metro Retail Stores Group.

He is set to lead all of the company’s business entities in the country.

“Since joining Sun Life, I have seen the strength of our people and our purpose here in the Philippines,” Moreno said.

“I look forward to working with our teams to help more Filipinos to achieve their goals for lifetime financial security and healthier lives, while building an organization that is innovative, sustainable, and a great place to work,” he added.
