BIZ BUZZ: Toxic executive, toxic workplace

Tina Arceo-Dumlao

Facts can indeed be stranger—and juicier—than fiction.

That is the case in this struggling network that recently saw the departure of a top executive over a long list of infractions, not least of which are bad decision-making and uncontrolled spending that finally got the big boss’s goat.

However, while the formerly high-flying executive has left, the toxic culture left behind apparently continues to breed excesses.

Biz Buzz sources say that a female executive closely allied to the previous boss has been abusing her power and authority, stoking the anger of demoralized, hard-working employees.

Disgruntled staffers say that this executive regularly comes in late and would even have her glutha drip right inside her office room and during office hours. She is also known to indulge in long lunch breaks to pamper herself in the salon or her favorite derma clinic.

She also reportedly forces her staff to pick her up in the morning and bring her home at night, and all because the much younger boyfriend gets to enjoy the company-assigned car.

What’s more, she would often ask her children and significant other to join meetings so that they can enjoy free meals charged to the company card.

The list goes on and staffers hope that this executive will soon follow her boss out of the building, never to come back.
