BIZ BUZZ: Aboitiz Equity Ventures keeps high ESG rating

Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. (AEV) has kept a high rating in a global environment, social and governance (ESG) index, which could potentially attract more socially conscious investors.
The group has retained its “A” rating from MSCI, a global provider of ESG research and ratings for public and select private companies.
It first achieved this score in September 2023.
According to the MSCI ESG Rating scale, firms rated with an A have” a mixed or an unexceptional record of managing the most significant sustainability risks and opportunities.”
The highest rating is “AAA” (leader), while the lowest is “CCC” (laggard).
Likewise, AEV received an ESG Score of 52 out of 100 from S&P Global, considered the highest among Philippine industrial conglomerates and well above the industry average.
“They show that our commitment to sustainability and responsible business is real—whether it’s accelerating our renewable energy investments or making sure our growth is inclusive and benefits the communities we serve,” Aboitiz Group president and chief executive officer Sabip Aboitiz said.
