BIZ BUZZ: Broadband front-runner

In the Philippines’ highly competitive telco industry, it’s the newest kid on the block who’s leading the pack.

Dennis Anthony Uy-led Converge ICT Solutions Inc. emerged as the country’s top fixed broadband provider in December 2025, according to a report released by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Data from DICT’s Oplan Bantay Signal pro8gram showed Converge posting the fastest average broadband speed, lowest latency and most consistent performance among fixed-line providers during the period.

In Metro Manila alone, Converge recorded an average speed of 193.61 megabits per second, based on nearly 700,000 speed tests covering both download and upload performance. It also logged the lowest average latency of 10.67 milliseconds.

“Converge ICT’s performance sets the national benchmark for fixed broadband excellence,” DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said in the report. “The company demonstrates that fiber infrastructure can deliver consistent, high-quality service across diverse geographic conditions.”

Converge chief operations officer Benjamin Azada said the findings mirrored third-party assessments, including that of Ookla, which cited Converge as the fastest fixed network in the Philippines in the first half of 2025.

Not bad for a relatively young third player that has spent years chasing the long-dominant PLDT-Globe duopoly.
