BIZ BUZZ: Ford holds off on price hikes… for now

Looking to buy a Ford pick-up? Perhaps make that purchase now while prices have not yet reflected the lifting of the exemption of pick-ups from the excise tax.
“Ford Philippines has implemented a no-price increase offer across most of its Ford Ranger variants in light of the re-imposition of the excise tax on pickup trucks that started this month. This offer is available to Ranger XL, XLT, Sport, Sport Special Edition, and Wildtrak,” Ford Philippines told Biz Buzz.
To recall, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) reminded automobile buyers that pickups are again subject to excise tax.
This started on July 1, when the Capital Market Efficiency Promotion Act (CMEPA) went into force.
“Pickups are already excluded from the list of automobiles exempt from excise tax starting July 1, 2025,” BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. said in a public advisory.
But just to be clear, the no-price increase offer for the popular Ford pickup trucks is valid “for a limited time only.”
As for the other brands, no official word yet on when they will adjust prices. But it is certainly not a question of if, but when.
So what are you waiting for?
