BIZ BUZZ: Korean tech leader joins Converge board

From just delivering fiber connectivity, Converge ICT is streaming ahead for its full ‘techco’ (technology company) dream with a South Korean cloud computing leader.

The company of Pampanga-based billionaire Dennis Uy elected Park Weongi, executive advisor and former CEO of NAVER Cloud, to its board of directors.

With more than three decades of experience on the global stage, particularly in digital transformation, Uy is confident that Park will provide the needed boost to “steer Converge through its next phase of growth”—becoming a technology powerhouse.

“At this critical stage of our evolution into a technology company, we are building a leadership team that matches the scale and complexity of our ambitions,” Uy said.

“Converge is no longer just a connectivity company. We’re building the digital backbone of the future—and we need board-level guidance from leaders who’ve already built those foundations at a global scale,” he added.

As the world sees the rising shift of industry players from purely telco to techco, who’s next?
