BIZ BUZZ: Tiu Laurel names new exec

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. has appointed another key official at the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The agency appointed Eduardo Destura, an engineer, as assistant secretary for agro-marine industrial systems via Special Order No. 268.

Before this, Destura served as a department manager at the Philippine Reclamation Authority, the lead government agency responsible for regulating reclamation projects.

With Destura’s appointment, the DA leadership roster now includes 12 undersecretaries, 15 assistant secretaries and one undersecretary-designate

Since his appointment in 2023, Tiu Laurel has worked hard to assemble his “dream organization” to lead a complex agriculture sector laden with problems and challenges.

It took Tiu Laurel a while to adjust to public service, but he’s already his stride leading the agency.
