Soberano family-led property firm Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) opened a new hotel in Cebu City in partnership with The Ascott Group as it seeks to widen its hospitality footprint amid the continued recovery of the tourism sector.

CLI now has three fully operational hotels with the opening of lyf Cebu City, which caters to younger travelers.

For the rest of the year, it will also open the 200-room Citadines Bacolod City in March and Radisson Red with 144 rooms, which will open by the end of 2024.

“We are excited for the opening of lyf Cebu City that offers young travelers an exciting blend of modern accommodations and a dynamic environment unmatched in Cebu,” CLI hotels and resorts director Mathias Bergundthal said in a statement on Tuesday.

The builder said lyf Cebu City has 159 rooms and is located near Fuente Osmeña Circle in Cebu City.

“CLI’s hotel portfolio is growing and we are happy to offer a unique experience to [the Visayas and Mindanao’s] growing tourism market,” Bergundthal said.

The new hotel serves as the first lyf property in the Visayas-Mindanao region, and the second in the Philippines.

“The opening of lyf Cebu City brings CLI’s operational hotel count to three, following the launch of The Pad Co-Living last month with 258 rooms and Citadines Cebu City in 2019 with 180 rooms. Like the latter, lyf Cebu City is also operated by international hospitality group The Ascott Limited,” CLI said. Its overall hotel portfolio, including those in the pipeline, includes 10 hotels with over 1,700 room keys.

“In its mission to strengthen its hospitality business, CLI also has partnerships with other international hotel operators, including Radisson and Accor, and with local players like the Abaca Group,” CLI said in the statement. INQ
