Construction of 3 cold storage hubs up for grabs
The Department of Agriculture (DA) has launched competitive bidding for the construction of three cold storage facilities in Bukidnon, Occidental Mindoro and Sorsogon with a combined project cost of P750 million.
This involves the design, build and supply project for small mega cold storage facilities in Manolo Fortich (P300 million), Sablayan (P200 million) and Sorsogon City (P250 million).
The facilities are designed to address post-harvest losses, ensure food safety and reliable supply of agricultural commodities, increase farmers’ incomes and improve productivity.
“These projects offer more efficient logistics support to the farmers, especially after production or when bringing the farm produce close to the market, end users or consumers and effectively manage the distribution of quality food in other markets in case there is an oversupply,” according to bidding documents posted on the DA’s website.
Pre-bid conferences will be held on Sept. 7 for the Sablayan cold storage facility and Sept. 8 for the Manolo Fortich and Sorsogon City projects.
Interested parties have until Sept. 21 (Sablayan), Sept. 22 (Sorsogon City) and Sept. 23 (Manolo Fortich) to submit their proposals. Late bids or those exceeding the approved budget will be rejected.
The competitive bidding is open to Filipino citizens or sole proprietorships, cooperatives and partnerships or organizations with at least 60 percent ownership. No subcontracting is allowed.
Bidders should have been operational for at least 10 years before submission deadline.
They should possess at least 10 years of competence and meaningful experience in architectural and engineering works related, but not limited to, refrigeration systems and cold storage warehouses.
Bidders should have completed a single largest completed contract similar to the project, covering both design and construction phases.
They should have completed a similar project within the 10-year period preceding the bid submission, with its project cost equivalent to at least 50 percent of the facility’s approved budget.
Winning contractors will be given 365 calendar days or 12 months to complete the project upon receipt of the notice to proceed.
