Converge offers free internet boost in April
Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has rolled out free internet speed upgrades nationwide through the end of April. This, as rising fuel costs linked to the Middle East war push more businesses to shift toward remote work arrangements.
In a statement, the fiber broadband provider said it is increasing speeds by 50 megabits per second across its FiberX plans until April 30. The upgrade is applied automatically to both existing and new subscribers at no additional cost.
This move comes as surging oil prices, driven by disruptions in the Middle East, drive up transportation costs and prompt private companies and government offices to adopt work-from-home (WFH) setups to manage expenses.
“This initiative aims to empower customers to stay productive, connected and informed as more Filipinos choose—or are compelled—to stay at home as rising fuel costs affect commuting and household budgets,” Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said.
Uy said the program also responds to calls from President Marcos and Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda for the private sector to help cushion the impact of higher fuel prices.
“Converge is stepping in by enabling faster, more reliable internet access—at no additional cost to our subscribers,” he added.
Uy said the speed upgrade is expected to support not only business continuity but also access to online learning, medical consultations, e-commerce, digital banking and government services.
Converge had 2.98 million residential subscribers as of end-2025.
Other Philippine telcos have rolled out similar measures to assist customers affected by the Middle East crisis.
Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. offered free roaming services for Filipinos in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait as well as load assistance and bill adjustments for customers in Iran.
Meanwhile, PLDT Inc. and its wireless arm Smart Communications provided free call services for Filipinos in the Middle East until March 15.
