Converge on track with nearly 1M-port rollout
Converge ICT Solutions Inc. said it remains on track to roll out nearly 1 million new fiber ports this year, even as disruptions linked to the conflict in the Middle East threaten to raise costs for the fiber broadband provider.
At the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting on Friday, Converge founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said the listed company would continue expanding its network in areas where demand remains strong, particularly “key growth locations.”
“As we look ahead to 2026, we are fully committed to our expansion strategies,” Uy said. “We are on track of deploying close to 1 million new fiber ports this year.”
This expansion will focus on Palawan, Zamboanga and major cities across Mindanao, Uy said, as Converge seeks to deepen its presence outside major urban centers and capture rising demand for broadband services.
Backing the rollout is a planned capital expenditure program of between P18 billion and P23 billion this year.
The company had initially planned to spend between P20 billion and P25 billion last year. However, actual capital expenditures reached P17 billion as some projects were deferred, resulting in a larger spending program for 2026.
Converge earlier said this year’s expansion would extend fiber connectivity deeper into the Visayas and Mindanao, where more than 100,000 additional ports are expected to be activated.
In an earlier interview, Uy said Converge would not scale back its expansion plans despite the prices of some materials and equipment doubling or even tripling amid the conflict in the Middle East.
