Converge using Nokia tech for data centers

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is tapping the expertise of global technology company Nokia in operating its data centers, which are deemed as critical infrastructure amid heightened digitalization.
The fiber service provider will use Nokia’s data center fabric solution, which is a switching platform that facilitates connection among servers and network components in a data center.
This technology uses automation and artificial intelligence (AI), improving operation efficiency while bringing down expenses.
In a statement on Thursday, Converge CEO and cofounder Dennis Anthony Uy said this move was necessary as the company moved to scale further its data center operations.
“This crucial initiative with Nokia reflects our commitment to continuously adopt next-generation technology solutions to provide consistently high-quality experience to our customers,” Converge chief network transformation officer Paulo Martin Santos added.
“The use of automation and AI will enable us to ensure regulatory compliance and to enhance network operations to gain a business edge,” he said.
Kent Wong, vice president of Nokia at Asia Pacific, said they were “looking forward to playing a bigger role in the Philippines’ growing data center industry” following this partnership.
The listed company also said it would be installing American tech giant Super Micro Computer’s liquid cooling solution to reduce energy consumption by up to 40 percent.
Converge currently has about 10 megawatts in data center capacity. The company planned to spend P6 billion to P7 billion annually to build up capacity.
