CREC seeks to connect project to grid

A unit of Citicore Renewable Energy Corp. (CREC) is seeking the regulator’s approval to build point-to-point transmission facilities to connect its 90-megawatt (MW) Pangasinan solar project to the Luzon grid.
In a document posted on the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) website, Citicore Solar Pangasinan Inc. (CSPI) said the interconnection line would allow it to link the Sta. Barbara 1 solar power project to the 69-kilovolt Balingueo Substation of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines.
The project cost for the transmission line is pegged at P176 million.
“Given its aggressive timeline, the completion of the project and the dedicated facility project within its projected time frame is critical to ensure that additional capacity to the Luzon grid becomes available in a timely manner,” the document stated.
“The issuance of a provisional authority for the development and ownership of the dedicated facility project is necessary so that the project’s generated power becomes readily available for public use,” it added.
In January, the Edgar Saavedra-led firm said it would end 2025 with nearly 1.2 gigawatts (GW) of capacity with more projects slated for commercial operations.
Oliver Tan, CREC president and chief executive, previously said the group has four solar developments in Tuy, Batangas; one in Arayat, Pampanga; two in Pangasinan; and two in Pagbilao, Quezon.
