Delivering an ‘AllValue’ retail experience

The retail sector in the Philippines has undergone momentous transformations, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. This period saw a surge in new retail concepts, shaped by the evolving tastes of Filipinos and the desire to compensate for lost time and experiences during the pandemic.

Camille Villar

Camille Villar, the dynamic managing director of Vista Malls, highlights the importance of innovation in retail, emphasizing the AllValue group’s commitment to pioneering concepts in various domains, including home essentials, supermarkets, and café culture.

“The retail landscape will always keep evolving, and we notice this constant evolution more these days since we emerged from the global pandemic,” she said. Her leadership has been pivotal in introducing new concepts to satisfy the evolving tastes of Filipinos.

Tackling pandemic challenges head on

Villar’s approach during the pandemic was marked by agility and foresight. The retail sector faced numerous obstacles, including lockdowns and social distancing measures, significantly affecting physical retail spaces. Despite these challenges, specific segments like food and beverages thrived. Villar emphasized the need for adaptability in such times.

“Our AllValue group takes pride in setting ourselves apart through innovation. From AllHome’s pioneering approach to be a one-stop home line center, AllDay Supermarket bringing an international standard to the grocery experience, to our cafe concepts like Coffee Project leading the way in establishing what the coffee culture here should be like, we believe that it is by bringing a new, innovative and world-class approach to experiences that we are given the opportunity to succeed,” she explained.

Innovation and expansion

Today, the AllValue Group continues to innovate and expand. According to Villar, they always look towards what the best in the world are doing.

“We regularly benchmark concepts in United States, Europe, and Japan—among others—to see what kind of innovation they are coming up with and we can tailor-fit that to an increasingly discerning Filipino market. This I believe also goes a long way in inspiring change in the retail landscape,” she said.

This year, AllValue likewise leveraged the Villar Group’s synergy to further enhance its already comprehensive retail ecosystem.

“For one, we are bringing world-class cafe concepts closer to thriving Filipino communities. We are bringing forth a new generation of cafes to over 147 cities and municipalities that Vista Land is present in—bringing a level of beauty, taste and aesthetic to add even more value and prestige to these locations,” Villar noted.

Charting the future of Philippine retail

Looking ahead, Villar envisions a vibrant future for the retail sector in the Philippines. With the market projected to grow significantly, she is committed to aligning their strategies with this upward course, focusing increasingly on innovation and enhanced customer experience.

“Like what our Chairman Manny Villar has stated many times over, the Filipino deserves world-class offerings. The best way to achieve that is actually going out into the world to see first-hand the best practices and highest standards of retail,” Villar concludes, signaling her dedication to further elevating the Philippine retail experience to global standards.
