E-filing system for trade remedy launched
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has switched on the government’s electronic filing system for trade remedy petitions, marking another major milestone in the government efforts toward digitalizing its services.
The DTI, through its Bureau of Import Service, soft-launched on Tuesday the Trade Remedy Electronic Filing System (TREFS), which aims to ease the lodging and management of trade remedy petitions in the country.
“The soft launching of TREFS is a prime example of the DTI’s innovative approach to easing our ways of doing business in the trade industry,” Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual said in a statement on Thursday.
“This is our way forward… as we address the challenges faced by our domestic producers in navigating the complexities of filing trade remedy petitions,” he added.
The government agency said that the TREFS enables 24/7 access to the filing system, ensuring the convenience of stakeholders and clients that wish to submit essential documents at their own pace.
It added that through the system, domestic producers will have a streamlined submission process, providing step-by-step guidance on the filing of trade remedy petitions and extensions.
Further, there will also be timely notifications through instant alerts messages that will ensure prompt feedback for clients and stakeholders.
The DTI also characterized the system as having a “robust” architecture, emphasizing it is designed to uphold validation protocols enforced by the Import Remedy Measures Division of the bureau. INQ
