Firms worry about data safety in Cloud
Companies are mainly concerned with keeping their data and applications safe when migrating to a cloud network, which is a favorite target of malicious hackers, according to global cybersecurity company Fortinet.
In its “2025 State of Cloud Security” report, Fortinet said the companies are worried over data leakage that could be costly to recover.
“For example, a financial services firm considering cloud migration for customer transaction data might hesitate due to fears of regulatory non-compliance or potential exposure of sensitive information through misconfigurations,” the firm said.
Enterprises were also concerned over the lack of visibility and control of the network, especially for those using multiple cloud platforms. This raises the need for enterprises to have efficient cloud security management, Fortinet noted.
“The ability to detect and respond to threats across cloud environments in real time is critical as organizations adopt increasingly complex multi-cloud and hybrid strategies,” the company said.
Other respondents also flagged the potential gap in right skills to “deploy and manage a complete solution across all cloud environments.”
Cloud technology has been supporting hybrid work setup, a trend that has risen during the pandemic after mobility was heavily curtailed. The cloud makes documents, files and applications readily available for employees via devices like laptops, smartphones and tables.
According to a survey by software company Alibaba Cloud, 85 percent of the businesses in the Philippines are expected to fully transition to the cloud this year.
