First Philippine Industrial Park taps Globe for fiber link
The First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) has tapped Globe Telecom as a connectivity provider to the Batangas special economic zone.
Through the partnership, Globe will provide fiber connection to FPIP’s 150 locators and over 80,000 employees. This is intended to ensure seamless operations, real-time collaboration and data-driven decision-making.
Moreover, the collaboration extends to FPIP’s shared dark fiber facility, which was established in 2023. This means making use of idle fiber optic cable.
This enables Globe to deploy services faster and cost-efficiently provide the locators more options for internet access.
FPIP serves as a hub to global businesses such as consumer electronics manufacturers including Canon, Honda and Dyson, among its locators.
Globe vice president Michelle Ora said locators at FPIP will have “seamless, secure and high-speed digital tools that enable innovation and enhance productivity, and (which will) position them to compete confidently in the global market.”
FPIP’s assistant vice president Jason de las Alas said that considering the diverse needs of the locators, they continue to enhance the digital infrastructure at the economic zone.
“We want to ensure we can support the changing and increasing demand for robust digital services,” he said.
For the first nine months of the year, Globe built 1,375 new cell sites and upgraded 8,699 existing mobile sites. The telco also deployed 60,193 fiber-to-the-home lines and rolled out 877 new 5G sites across the country.
