German firm takes over PH sale of antibiotic, heart drugs

Pharmaceutical firms Stada Philippines Inc. and Sandoz Philippines Corp. have signed an agreement transferring to the former the local distribution rights for several key legacy medicines.
These include an antibiotic and two cardiovascular care brands.
The local unit of Germany-based Stada Arzneimittel AG, said in a statement on Thursday that it has assumed full responsibility for the commercialization of the antibiotic Zinnat, blood pressure medication Ambesyl and cholesterol-lowering drug Robestar.
“We live by our purpose, which is to care for people’s health with the products we bring to the market.
We reflect this ambition now as a trusted partner for Sandoz,” Stada Philippines general manager Paolo Valenzuela said.
The agreement took effect on May 1, with Stada now responsible for the promotion, selling and distribution of these products.
In a follow-up with the Inquirer, Sandoz said there will be no price increases following the deal.
Meanwhile, Sandoz Philippines country manager Nevin Gulbaz said the partnership allows them to reach more patients.
