Global Ferronickel rides robust global metal prices

Ipilan Nickel Corp. (INC), a mining subsidiary of listed Global Ferronickel Holdings Inc., is targeting to produce at least 1.5 million wet metric tons (WMT) of nickel ore this year, banking on favorable weather and operating conditions.

“The projected sales mix for 2026 is 52.6 percent low-grade and 47.4 percent medium-grade nickel ore, in line with the company’s market strategy and customer requirements,” Global Ferronickel said in a disclosure on Thursday.

Global Ferronickel has yet to release its 2025 annual report. In its nine-month financial report, it said INC’s mine site in Brooke’s Point town had delivered 1.001 million WMT of nickel ore, down 9.4 percent.

“This reduction was primarily due to the rescheduling of developmental activities in new mining areas to the third quarter following permitting delays earlier in the year, compounded by adverse weather conditions that further limited operating days,” the financial report said.

The Palawan mine completed 18 shipments of nickel ore during the reporting period, all of which went to China.

Despite lower volumes, INC generated export revenues of P2.3 billion, an 11.8 percent increase, as the average realized price of nickel ore rose by 23.3 percent to $40.27 per WMT.

INC delivered 53,912 WMT of low-grade nickel ore to China, marking the beginning of its mining operations for 2026.

According to Global Ferronickel, bulk carrier MV RU Cheng Shan has completed loading at Ipilan’s anchorage area in Brooke’s Point and has departed for China.

“The commencement of shipments reflects the strong operational readiness of Ipilan’s mine site and its continued ramp-up under a comprehensive mine development program for the year,” the parent firm said.

“Key activities include mining area expansion, construction of additional haul roads, and the installation of critical environmental protection structures,” it added.

INC has a mineral production sharing agreement with the Philippine government, which grants the exclusive right to conduct mining operations within Brooke’s Point town, spanning 2,835 hectares. It has a potential additional resource of more than 50 million WMT.
