HitPay, Primer partner to boost cross-border payments

Logan Kal-El M. Zapanta

Payment service providers Primer and Hitpay have partnered to accelerate the global expansion of Southeast Asian merchants. They would provide the latter with faster access to key overseas markets, such as the United States and Europe.

Singapore-based HitPay will use Primer’s unified payments infrastructure to connect local merchants with global acquirers. This will make it easier to accept multicurrency card payments and manage cross-border transactions.

This partnership is expected to particularly benefit exporters as well as travel and hospitality businesses.

“Accelerated access to new markets and local-level payment performance will be transformative for our fast-growing merchants,” said Aditya Haripurkar, cofounder and CEO of HitPay. “The integration was fast, with minimal engineering—but the impact has been immediate, especially in fast-growing segments like travel.”

Southeast Asia’s cross-border e-commerce market is projected to exceed $76 billion by 2030. An increasing number of merchants in the region are selling to customers abroad.

In the Philippines alone, 32 percent of micro, small and medium enterprises reported interest in enhancing their international presence in 2026, according to data from the Boston Consulting Group.

Digital payments accounted for 57.4 percent of all retail transactions in 2024, based on Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data.

Primer cofounder and CEO Gabriel Le Roux said the partnership would address persistent complexity in international payments.

“Enabling merchants to scale internationally is still one of the hardest problems in payments,” Le Roux said. “By partnering with HitPay, we’re opening new markets for their merchants and laying the foundation for long-term global expansion.”

HitPay will also integrate into Primer’s recently launched “Primer for Partners” program.
