DoubleDragon Corp. has marked a milestone in its international expansion as its subsidiary Hotel101 Global Holdings Corp. officially opened 680-room Hotel101-Madrid, the group’s first in Europe.

The company led by tycoons Edgar “Injap” Sia II and Tony Tan Caktiong said on Tuesday guests can now book rooms through the Hotel101 mobile application and other online hotel booking platforms.

The opening signals the start of the company’s first foreign-currency recurring revenue stream.

DoubleDragon said this could help position the group as a contributor to US dollar inflows into the Philippine economy.

Hotel101-Madrid is located in the Valdebebas district of Madrid, a fast-growing area close to key transportation and commercial hubs.

The property sits near the Madrid-Barajas International Airport, across a train station and close to IFEMA, Spain’s largest convention complex.

The hotel is also beside the Ciudad Real Madrid training complex and near the site of the new Formula 1 Madrid Grand Prix circuit. The company said such a location could help attract sports fans and event visitors.

With 680 rooms, Hotel101-Madrid ranks among the five largest hotels in Spain, according to DoubleDragon.

The property features Hotel101’s standardized “HappyRoom” units, each equipped with a kitchenette. It also offers amenities designed to provide four-star accommodations, including swimming pools, function rooms, a business center, full-size gym, a convenience store, laundry facilities, more than 200 parking spaces and 24/7 reception.
