The local unit of international cosmetics and beauty company L’Oréal has unveiled a new distribution hub in Laguna to improve its supply chain and meet the growing needs of its Philippine market.

L’Oréal Philippines said on Thursday it had inaugurated its 60,000 square meter distribution hub in Calamba on Aug. 29 through a strategic partnership with Maersk.

“In a market like the Philippines with highly engaged beauty consumers, our priority is to bring the best of beauty to more Filipinos in a sustainable and scalable manner,” L’Oréal Philippines country managing director Yassine Bakkari said in a statement.

“This new distribution hub will enable us to reach that ambition while demonstrating our commitment to quality, innovation, supply chain excellence and responsible practices,” she added.

The company said that its new distribution center is three times bigger than the previous hub and has seven times more storage.

The firm also highlighted that it is strategically located in the South Luzon area and in close proximity to the distribution sites of major retailer-partners.

This means it is able to increase the capacity and improve the speed of distribution by over 30 percent, said the firm.

It noted that the new hub also has a built-to-suit facility, which significantly increases its capacity for e-commerce fulfillment.

The hub also boasts of being powered by renewable energy sources and equipped with smart lighting and rainwater collection system to minimize its environmental footprint.

Furthermore, the company said that the new facility has eliminated the use of plastic in its packaging processes, utilizing Forest Stewardship Council-certified cartons and water-activated paper tape for all orders.

Moreover, L’Oréal Philippines said it has piloted the use of electric vehicles in the transportation of its products, marking the beginning of the use of more environment-friendly vehicles in its operations.
