MacroAsia sees continued growth amid travel boom

Aircraft maintenance service provider MacroAsia Corp. is bullish on the year head after securing new clients as travel momentum remains on high gear.
The Lucio Tan-led company, in a recent statement, said their portfolio widened with the entry of Air Canada and Air India.
The Canadian flag carrier launched its inaugural Manila-Vancouver flights last week.
The route, which is offered three times weekly, will be expanded to four times a week next month.
Meanwhile, the government said in March they were in talks with Air India for the potential direct flights linking Manila to Delhi and Mumbai.
“As the company enters 2025, it remains confident in maintaining its upward trajectory, with anticipated revenue growth fueled by its expanding aviation services, food business and water concessions,” the company said.
However, MacroAsia raised concern over “potential cost pressures,” citing the pending increase on leases following the privatization of operations and maintenance of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).
The company’s aircraft maintenance unit Lufthansa Technik Philippines is headquartered at Naia—and its 25-year lease is up for renewal this year.
Lease renewal
MacroAsia said it was negotiating the terms of the lease renewal to ensure “continued operational viability and competitiveness.”
The company saw its revenues from ground handling and aviation service soar by 33 percent to P4.16 billion last year from P3.14 billion a year earlier, thanks to busier operations.
The number of flights handled grew by 5 percent to 189,318 last year.
Food services and in-flight catering revenues rose by 11 percent to P4.4 billion last year.
The company served 23.7 million meals last year, up 4 percent from 2023.
“As demand in aviation and food services continues to rise, we remain committed to expanding our footprint and enhancing operational efficiencies even beyond airports,” MacroAsia Corp. president Eduardo Luis Luy said.
MacroAsia also develops water infrastructure projects, including water treatment facilities in Bacolod and Poro Point, La Union.Ma
