Maharlika, DICT collab for digital infra projects

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and state-run Maharlika Investment Corp. are collaborating to help speed up the country’s digital transformation.

For this reason, the DICT and Maharlika signed a memorandum of understanding. It is expected “to boost investor confidence and attract local and foreign investments in underserved areas,” the DICT said in a statement on Wednesday.
This partnership involves the sovereign wealth fund’s investment in critical digital infrastructure projects to generate long-term returns and drive inclusive growth across geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

The DICT said the cooperation with Maharlika will promote inclusive and sustainable national development by bringing in more ICT infrastructure to attain this objective.

“By enhancing digital capabilities in remote and rural localities, the initiative will create a foundation for new economic activities, innovation hubs, and service industries, which will ultimately contribute to balanced regional development and reduced socioeconomic disparities,” it added.

The DICT stressed the importance of forging such partnerships to ensure equitable access to digital opportunities across the archipelago.

“By prioritizing digital infrastructure today, we are not only enabling inclusive growth and innovation, but also securing opportunities for future generations of Filipinos,” said Consing.
