Emmanuel John Abris

President Marcos has formally inaugurated Megaworld Corp.’s Mactan Expo, a new convention facility inside the company’s 30-hectare township, The Mactan Newtown in Cebu City.

The Andrew Tan-led property giant said on Monday the Mactan Expo is positioned to help transform Lapu-Lapu City into a leading destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions, a segment that continues to gain importance in the tourism industry.

Kevin Tan, president and CEO of Alliance Global Group Inc., Megaworld’s parent firm, said the new facility would open additional opportunities for tourism, business and investment in the country.

“The Mactan Expo serves as an important platform for Cebu and for the Philippines, opening new opportunities for tourism, business and investment,” Tan said, noting that the project demonstrates how collaboration between government and the private sector could deliver large-scale developments.
