Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad) is bullish about keeping its strong financial position in 2027 despite the threat of super El Niño, as the group fortifies its network now while giving an additional P27.5-billion capital boost for next year.

At a media briefing, chief financial officer Ricardo Delos Reyes said Maynilad has “no concerns” that the extreme hot weather would have an impact on its financial performance.

“We don’t expect that our revenues or our expenses will be affected next year,” he told reporters on Thursday.

For the first nine months of 2026, Maynilad reported its net income rose to P12.6 billion from P11.4 billion.

Consolidated revenues also improved by 3.5 percent to P28.6 billion from the previous P27.7 billion, driven by operational improvements, stronger billed volume and customer base expansion.

Billed connections grew by 1.5 percent to 1.59 million.

The group is the water and wastewater services provider for the west zone, covering 17 cities and towns in Metro Manila and Cavite.

While Delos Reyes acknowledged the rising public concern about the looming effects of El Niño, which includes a potential drought in some provinces, he said Maynilad is “very well prepared for that …”

The capital expenditures (Capex) earmarked for 2027 would mainly finance the firm’s efforts in bolstering water security as well as lowering nonrevenue water.

From January to September of this year alone, Maynilad invested P19.5 billion, 5 percent higher than the previous P18.6 billion, as it strengthened its water and wastewater infrastructure, network efficiency, network reliability and production facilities.

“While water supply risks and elevated inflation continue to shape the operating environment, we remain focused on strengthening our water supply resilience and improving network reliability,” Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez said in a statement.

“Our sustained investments in infrastructure and operational efficiency are intended to support growing demand, improve service delivery, and create long-term value for our customers and stakeholders,” he added.
