Megaworld cues seven hotels for launch thru 2030

Megaworld Corp. is setting its sights on hospitality expansion in the next five years, leveraging on the strength of its township developments across the country.

The Andrew Tan-led developer on Thursday said it would open seven new hotels by 2030 to raise its hotel room count to 9,000.

These include the Chancellor Hotel at Boracay Newcoast (554 rooms); Belmont Hotel Iloilo at Iloilo Business Park (404 rooms); The Kingsford at The Upper East Bacolod (300 rooms). There also the Savoy Hotel Palawan (304 rooms) and Paragua Sands (313 rooms) also in Palawan; Savoy Capital Town (373 rooms) in Capital Town in San Fernando, Pampanga province; and ArcoVia Hotel in ArcoVia City (339 rooms).

“Through this expansion program, we aim to continue to further grow and strengthen our contribution to the Philippine tourism industry,” Megaworld president and CEO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso said in a statement.

Also, Megaworld will likewise transition five of its existing properties into Accor-branded hotels, including Belmont Hotel Mactan. It will be rebranded as Mercure Mactan Cebu.

“The inclusion of international hotels in our portfolio will further cement our position as the largest hotel operator in the country for both local and international hotels,” Gutierrez-Alfonso noted.
