MGen wraps up P3.2-M community aid push
Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) said it has completed the distribution of more than P3.2 million worth of community assistance to over 6,300 beneficiaries nationwide. This covered areas that host its power generation facilities.
In a statement, the power generation arm of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said its annual “Handog sa Pasko ng MGen” initiative was rolled out in 44 towns. This was implemented through its thermal and renewable energy subsidiaries.
The program involved support for community activities and the distribution of food packages to households in host communities. This was timed ahead of the year-end holidays.
The company said the latest rollout nearly doubled the number of beneficiaries reached last year. This reflected the expansion of its engagement efforts alongside the growth of its generation portfolio.
Communities near MGen’s facilities in Luzon and the Visayas were among those covered by the initiative.
MGen president and CEO Emmanuel Rubio said the program forms part of the company’s broader approach to maintaining long-term relationships with communities where its power plants operate.
“As our portfolio grows, we remain mindful that progress should be shared — and this initiative is one way we express our gratitude and support to our neighbors where we operate,” Rubio said.
The company operates a diversified portfolio spanning thermal, renewable and gas-fired power assets.
As of October 2025, MGen said it has a combined net sellable capacity of 5,079.2 megawatts from both traditional and renewable sources, positioning it as one of the country’s major power generation companies.
