New Parañaque ecozone seen boosting IT-BPM sector
An information technology (IT) park in Parañaque City, which is newly registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza), is expected to strengthen the country’s fast-growing IT-business process management (BPM) sector.
Peza announced over the weekend that DM Wenceslao and Associates Inc. (DMW), together with its wholly owned subsidiary Aseana Holdings Inc., has secured registration for its office development at 8912 Aseana Avenue. This officially designated the space as an IT special economic zone.
The project covers a 14-story building with a penthouse and service deck, offering about 100,700 square meters of floor area, making it the largest Peza-accredited office building in DMW’s portfolio.
Key hub
DMW said the new ecozone strengthens Aseana City’s position as a key hub for IT-BPM and global services firms. This, especially as the pipeline of new Peza-accredited office developments in Metro Manila remains tight.
“lt reflects our long-term commitment to building a district that is well-positioned to support high-growth industries, generate quality employment and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic development,” DMW CEO Delfin Wenceslao said in a disclosure.
President Marcos declared 8912 Asean Avenue as an IT hub in December through Proclamation No. 11.
Peza Director General Tereso Panga and Wenceslao signed the registration agreement on Jan. 29.
Peza noted that the IT-BPM sector remains a key pillar of its investment portfolio, accounting for around 11 percent of total investments, with cumulative investments exceeding P360 billion.
Beyond IT-BPM, Wenceslao said Aseana Holdings is also exploring expansion into health care and medical tourism as it seeks to further diversify the business ecosystem within Aseana City.
