Pag-Ibig Fund and Megawide Construction Corp. have launched a precast manufacturing facility in Rizal to support the construction of over 7,000 socialized housing units under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program.

The facility will produce major building elements such as walls, slabs, beams and columns in a controlled plant environment.

This comes after the state-run housing agency invested P10 billion in Megawide preferred shares last year, with a 9 percent annual return, to fund the project.

Through the facility, a total of 7,143 housing units will be built in medium-rise residential developments in Cavite over the next two years.

“In line with President Marcos’ directive to expand access to affordable, decent housing, we are pushing modern construction methods like precast so we can deliver safe, quality homes faster for Filipino families,” Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said in a statement.

“By speeding up housing delivery, we not only provide more Filipinos with homes, but we also help create jobs, sustain construction activity, and stimulate the economy,” said Aliling, who also chairs the Pag-Ibig Fund board of trustees chair.

Lending boost

Meanwhile, Pag-Ibig Fund CEO Marilene Acosta said the facility would allow the agency to finance projects that remain affordable while maintaining quality standards.

“In line with our mandate to provide sustainable financing for the country’s housing industry, we support projects like this to speed up construction, improve efficiency and deliver quality homes that remain affordable for Filipino families,” she said.

Beyond the precast facility, Pag-Ibig has approved P27.12 billion in housing development financing. This is to support the construction of 21,022 socialized housing units. About P8.5 billion has already been released.

In 2025, the agency disbursed a record P140.54 billion in housing loans, benefiting 90,727 Filipino workers who purchased new homes or improved existing ones.
