PAL deploys new A350-1000 to Toronto

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has deployed its second Airbus A350-1000 on its three-times-weekly Manila-Toronto route, as it gradually expands the use of its newest aircraft on long-haul North American services.

In a statement, PAL said the aircraft began serving the Manila-Toronto route on June 5, making Canada’s largest city the second destination in its network to be served by the A350-1000 after New York.

“Philippine Airlines continues to enhance its long-haul product, offering passengers a superior travel experience aboard the airline’s most advanced aircraft,” the Lucio Tan-led flag carrier said.

Fresh delivery

PAL’s A350-1000 now operates the Toronto route on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Return services are scheduled every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

The deployment comes a week after PAL took delivery of its second A350-1000, the latest addition to its order for nine of the widebody aircraft.

Configured with 42 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats and 316 economy seats, the aircraft can accommodate 382 passengers.

It is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 turbofan engines capable of producing up to 97,000 pounds of thrust each.

PAL said the aircraft’s improved fuel efficiency, longer range and enhanced cargo capacity make it particularly suited for their operations in North America, where the airline maintains a large overseas network.

The airline currently operates nonstop flights from Manila to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Toronto and Vancouver.
