Pardo reelected PSE chair; Monzon remains CEO
The Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. (PSE) welcomed a returning member to its 15-seat board of directors, with 14 members retaining their posts at the company operating the country’s stock market.
On Saturday, Jose Pardo, chair and founder of 7-Eleven Philippines, was reelected as PSE chair. Ramon Monzon will continue as president and CEO, which he has been holding since 2017.
PSE director Edgardo Lacson was elected nonbroker director representing other market participants.
Lacson, who last served on the PSE board in 2021, is chair of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines. Concurrently, he is the honorary chair of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Lacson replaced Holcim Philippines Inc. chair Tomas Alcantara, who had served as director from July 2021 until this year.
“I am pleased to be working once again with esteemed colleagues in the board,” says Pardo, who has been serving as PSE chair for more than a decade.
“They have been instrumental in pursuing regulatory reforms and programs for the stock market and its stakeholders, to bring PSE closer to its vision,” he adds.
Other reelected nonbroker directors are Ferdinand Constantino and Jose Arnulfo Veloso, both representing investors, and Marilyn Victorio-Aquino, representing issuers.
Apart from Pardo, the independent directors who will serve another term are Teresita Leonardo de Castro, Peter Favila, Andrew Jerome Gan and Vicente Panlilio.
The reelected broker directors are Diosdado Arroyo, Eddie Gobing, Wilson Sy, Anthony Te and Ma. Vivian Yuchengco.
All directors have a one-year term, or until June 2025.
