PCC simplifies complaint filing system

Filipinos can now report online any business practices that may violate competition laws, as the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) has launched a new digital case reporting and management system.

In a statement on Monday, the PCC said the platform, which had gone live on Dec. 18, streamlines the reporting process and removes the previous multistep system that required staff intervention.

It also assured users that relevant documents uploaded to the system would be secure.

“This system empowers the public to take part in safeguarding competition,” said PCC chair Michael Aguinaldo. “By making reporting faster, simpler and more secure, we are strengthening our collective effort to ensure fair markets for all.”

The system, unveiled last April, was developed in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency, which provides development assistance and technical cooperation to developing countries.

Accessible through the PCC website, the new platform now allows report filing and verification in just three steps.

Users receive a document ID and password after filing a verified complaint and are sent an email to confirm the submission. They can also track their report through the digital system.

Previously, filing a report with the PCC involved email requests, folder creation by PCC staff and the issuance of login credentials.

The PCC said the system would help strengthen its enforcement of the Philippine Competition Act, which prohibits anti‑competitive practices, abuse of dominance and anti‑competitive mergers and acquisitions.
