PetroEnergy unit fires up Isabela solar plant
Clean and renewable power has started flowing to the Luzon grid from Yuchengco-led PetroEnergy Resources Corp.’s solar facility in Isabela, marking another addition to the company’s growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
In a disclosure on Thursday, PetroEnergy said power delivery commenced on Dec. 18, 2025, from the 40-megawatt direct current (MWDC) Limbauan Solar Power Project of Rizal Green Energy Corp. (RGEC), a joint venture led by PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC) under the Yuchengco Group.
The initial power export came from the project’s 33.831 MWDC Phase 2 after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) issued a provisional certificate of approval to connect as a generator on Dec. 17.
The plant earlier completed its energization as a load facility on Nov. 24, clearing the way for grid connection and power delivery.
Located in San Pablo, Isabela, the Limbauan facility sources indigenous and renewable energy and feeds electricity into the Luzon grid through a 69-kilovolt switchyard. It is the third solar power plant developed under the RGEC joint venture of PGEC and Japan’s Taisei Corp. to begin supplying electricity to the grid.
PGEC vice president Maria Victoria Olivar said the start of power export from Limbauan’s Phase 2 marks a key milestone for the group, noting that the facility is a qualified project under the Green Energy Auction Program’s second round.
She cited the cooperation among PGEC, the Department of Energy, NGCP, the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines and the local governments of San Pablo and Isabela as critical to the project’s timely completion.
