PSEi remains sleepy on lack of spark

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) was mostly flat on Thursday amid a lack of key catalysts that could jolt life back into the market.

By the closing bell, the benchmark PSEi had inched up by 0.11 percent or 6.8 points to end at 6,126.89.

Likewise, the broader All Shares Index added 0.01 percent or 0.38 points to close at 3,691.73.

A total of 3.1 billion shares worth P5.8 billion changed hands, stock exchange data showed.

Luis Limlingan, head of sales at stock brokerage house Regina Capital Development Corp., said investors were still waiting for significant market movers.

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. was the most actively traded stock as it tumbled 8.3 percent to P12.82 each. It was followed by International Container Terminal Services Inc., up 1.22 percent to P480; SM Investments Corp., down 0.67 percent to P745; BDO Unibank Inc., up 1.68 percent to P139; and Ayala Land Inc., down 1.34 percent to P29.50 per share.

Others were JG Summit Holdings Inc., up 1.01 percent to P25; DigiPlus Interactive Corp., up 6.82 percent too P21; PLDT Inc., down 1.42 percent to P1,109; Puregold Price Club Inc., up 2.45 percent to P43.95; and Ayala Corp., up 0.19 percent to P521 each.

Losers edged out gainers, 101 to 100, while 46 companies closed flat, stock exchange data also showed.
