RFM to expand ice cream, pasta production

Lisbet K. Esmael

Food and beverage firm RFM Corp. is looking to boost the production capacity of its ice cream, pasta and milk businesses, with its optimism buoyed by a potential double-digit growth this year.

The company told the local bourse on Tuesday that its joint venture Magnum RFM Ice Cream Inc.—focused on producing popular ice cream brands Selecta, Magnum and Cornetto—was gearing up for additional investments. The goal is to increase its capacity in the coming years amid the growing demand.

Likewise, its pasta and milk units have been witnessing improved volume demand, prompting the group to build more supply chain capabilities.

The group is also behind Royal Pasta and Fiesta Pasta.

“With zero bank loans at the parent level and a healthy cash balance, RFM can continue to uphold its dividend policy and fund expansion projects across several business segments—without putting stress on the balance sheet,” RFM CEO Joey Concepcion III said in the disclosure.

According to the top executive, these core brands continued to enjoy “healthy consumer demand and positive market traction,” fueling the firm’s growth.

However, RFM saw its sales performance for the year dampened by weaker flour prices, alongside disruptions caused by a series of typhoons that led to widespread flooding in Luzon.

Despite these setbacks, demand across its products remained “resilient,” the company said.

Given this, RFM still expects to book a minimal 2 percent improvement in its sales, reaching P22.2 billion.

Its bottom line is also seen jumping 14 percent to P1.6 billion by yearend.

For 2026, Concepcion is bullish about the group’s operations as the country continues to post cooler inflation, a development that can support household consumption.

Imported input costs were also less volatile, allowing manufacturers to manage currency-related risks.
