Singson is MAP 2024 ‘Management Person of the Year’
The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) has named former Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson 2024 “Management Person of the Year,” making him the 48th recipient of the prestigious award.
“To me, it is just a recognition that it makes sense to do your job well,” Singson told reporters on the sidelines of MAP’s general membership meeting at Shangri-La at the Fort, where the announcement was made on Wednesday.
Singson, president and CEO of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., was feted by the influential business group for his good governance and anticorruption program at the Department of Public Works and Highways.
MAP said Singson had changed the image of the agency from “one of the most corrupt” to an “efficient” entity during the Aquino regime.
The group also noted his “contribution to reshaping national values by being a model of humility, ethical conduct and spiritual uprightness.”
Further, Singson was hailed for setting an example for Filipino managers through an “unblemished track record of integrity, managerial competence and professional leadership in his management career in both private and public sectors.”
Singson’s body of work in public-private partnership, tollways management and water and power utilities privatization, alongside development of airports, seaports and resorts, was also cited by MAP.
He was also hailed for his active role in job creation and raising income opportunities.
The MAP award annually recognizes individuals for their integrity, leadership and management qualities, as well as contribution to nation-building and values formation.
Other awardees in recent years were Jollibee Foods Corp. CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong (2023) and DMCI Holdings Inc. chair and president Isidro Consunji (2022).
