Stronger sales boost RRHI core profit

Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. (RRHI) grew its core earnings in 2025 on the back of stronger sales and improved operating efficiency.

According to a disclosure filed on Thursday, the Gokongwei-led retailer’s core earnings rose 6 percent to P6.7 billion for the full year.

For the fourth quarter alone, core profit increased 9.9 percent to P2.5 billion.

However, net income attributable to equity holders of the parent company fell 44.3 percent to P5.7 billion. This was due to a high base in 2024 that included one-time gain from the merger of Bank of the Philippine Islands and Robinsons Bank.

Nonetheless, core earnings improved due to sustained net sales growth and better operating leverage, RRHI reported.

Net sales climbed 5.7 percent to P210.4 billion in 2025, with blended same-store sales growth (SSSG) of 3.2 percent.

In the fourth quarter, sales rose 7.7 percent to P61.2 billion, driven by blended SSSG of 3.6 percent and incremental sales from new stores.

RRHI said that all its business segments had recorded sales growth in both the quarter and the full year.

Operating income also outpaced top-line growth in the fourth quarter, rising 12.9 percent to P3.8 billion. The company credited this to sustained supplier support, better category mix, higher private label penetration and continued cost management.

For the full year, operating income increased 7.4 percent to P10.5 billion.

Looking ahead, RRHI president and CEO Stanley Co said, “In 2026, we remain focused on expanding our footprint, elevating customer experience across our formats and investing in strategic initiatives that reinforce our differentiation and support sustainable growth.”

This comes as the group gears up to expand its pipeline, with sister company Robinsons Land Corp. planning to build a Shopwise supermarket within its Sierra Valley destination estate in Cainta by 2027.

As of end-2025, RRHI had 2,763 company-owned stores. This is broken down as follows: 799 food stores, 1,173 drugstores, 51 department stores, 234 DIY stores and 506 specialty stores, including 216 from Premiumbikes. It also had 2,154 franchised stores of The Generics Pharmacy.
