The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) said on Wednesday a Thailand-based canning firm is planning to invest $18 million in a new coconut milk processing plant in the country.

Peza, one of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) investment promotion agencies, said this facility would be put up at the Phividec Industrial Estate Special Economic Zone in Misamis Oriental.

Tereso Panga, the agency’s director general, was a featured speaker at VIV Asia 2025 and the Gut Bio Balance (GBB) Probiotics Line Launch, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 12 to 14.

Panga discussed the current investment landscape in the Philippines and the opportunities available for Thai investors in the agribusiness sector.

He highlighted how integrating innovative agricultural solutions can unlock new investment opportunities, improve farm-to-market efficiency and enhance trade flows between Thailand and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

“This synergy offers a powerful avenue to strengthen food security, promote sustainable agriculture, and drive economic progress,” PEZA said in a statement.
