US aerospace firm cues expansion in Batangas

A unit of a US-based aerospace and defense company is expanding its manufacturing operations in the Philippines with a new 7,846-square-meter (sq m) facility at the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) in Santo Tomas, Batangas.

Collins Aerospace, part of the aerospace conglomerate RTX Corp., will expand its existing footprint at the 600-hectare industrial park. The new facility is expected to open by the third quarter of 2026.

This expansion, the company said, is meant to improve operational efficiency while boosting production output as demand in the global aerospace sector rises.

“This growth is critical for Collins to best support the rapidly growing aviation industry in-country and region, as well as airliners and airframers around the globe,” said Mary DeStaffan, general manager of Collins Aerospace’s Philippine campus.

FPIP and Collins Aerospace sealed the expansion plans through an agreement last Jan. 8.

Collins Aerospace manufactures seven aircraft cabin interior products in the Philippines. These include galleys, galley inserts, lavatories and seating systems.

The firm recently produced new economy-class seats for the refurbished Airbus A321ceo fleet of Philippine Airlines.

According to the Collins Aerospace website, the company already has 3,000 employees in the Philippines.

It also operates a 698,000-square-foot (sq ft) manufacturing, warehouse and office space, as well as a 69,900 sq ft warehouse and logistics space.

For FPIP, the expansion is expected to bolster employment in the industrial park, which currently employs about 80,000 workers.

Aerospace has seen growth in terms of the Philippines’ investment mix. Exports hit $590.2 million in 2024 and $603.1 million in the first nine months of 2025.
